During the last 100 years, United States Presidents have made important decisions in an effort to solve crucial problems.
How have those decisions been debated? |
Objective: Create a 60 - 120 second Movie or Television Trailer Showcasing 1 United States Presidential Decision and how it was debated by the people.
Task: Throughout this year we have discussed several debates surrounding Presidential Decisions in the United States. Now it is your turn to explore these controversies. For this video project you will choose and research a Presidential Decision that is somehow personal to you or your group members. You will create a Movie or Television Trailer that showcases your research. |
Directions: Using I Movie create a Movie or Television Trailer (90-120 seconds) that showcases 1 United States Presidential Decision, and the debate that surrounds it. Use at least Three Sources of Information to help you create a compelling and exciting Movie or Television Trailer. |
Rubric: You will be assessed on your research of the debate surrounding your Presidential Decision, and your expression of that debate through Digital Video.

2.) As a Group Research the Debate Surrounding your Presidential Decision! Individually write a one to two page journal entry that answers the following questions:
- What is your Presidential Decision?
- What is the historical context surrounding your Presidential Decision?
- Why was your Presidential Decision controversial?
- Explain the impact of your Presidential Decision on the time period and today.
- Put yourself in the shoes of the President. Would you make the same decision? Why or Why not?

3.) Now start to put it all together! As a group Brainstorm your Movie or Television Trailer. Using the Storyboard worksheet provided in class map out your Movie or Television Trailer (60-120 seconds) that showcases 1 United States Presidential Decision, and the debate that surrounds it. Use at least Three Sources of Information to help you create a compelling and exciting Movie or Television Trailer. A MLA bibliography is needed to show your work.

Questions to Consider:
- How will you show your audience why your Presidential Decision was controversial?
- How will you show your audience both sides of the debate?
- How will your movie trailer share similar characteristics to other trailers you've seen?
- How will you show your audience the impact of Presidential Decision during its time period, as well as today?

5.) Shoot and Edit Your Movie or TV Trailer.
Remember:
- Framing: Still frame and good shots. The importance of the close up. Consider your environment you will be filming in.
- Lighting: Needs to be behind the lens. It will effect the quality of the work.
- Length: 5 second rule! Short shots
- Voice overs: you can control the mood with your pitch and pacing.Clear and Crisp!
